A strong earthquake jolted several cities in the northern parts of the Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore on Tuesday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 5.8. While the epicenter of the earthquake was the Pothohar region of Jehlum, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
Severe damages to residential and commercial buildings as well as to the roads and vehicles has been reported from different cities.
A building in Mirpur city of Azad Kashmir collapsed. At least 50 people including women and children got injured in the city .
The tremors lasted for 8-10 seconds but were felt strongly in Islamabad, Rawalpindi,Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar and Kohitan,
The earthquake sent people racing out of buildings and offices in cities across the country. They were praying and reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
