U.S, Ohio hit by mass shooting hours after El Paso attack

2nd mass shooting within 24 hours in US

At least ten people were killed in a mass shooting in the US city of Dayton, police said, within 24 hours of a similar incident at a shopping mall in Texas.

About 16 injured from shooting were brought to Miami Valley Hospital, according to its spokesperson, while several other are being treated in other local hospitals.

The shooting took place in the historic Oregon District near downtown Dayton. It has reported that a man carrying a rifle opened fire at people outside a bar and attempted to enter the establishment before he was overpowered and shot dead by police.

Officers were “in the vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly”, the police department said in a statement.

The suspected gunman, who has not been identified yet, was killed by the police, quoting Dayton Deputy Director and Assistant Chief of the Police Lt Col Matt Carper. The shooter used a long gun with multiple rounds, he added. The motive of the gunman is not yet known and police believe he acted alone.
