APPAC, NY state legislators meet Speaker Sindh assembly

KARACHI:  The American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee and New York state’s deputy speaker Phil Ramos met speaker Sindh assembly Owais Qadir Shah at Sindh assembly along with delegation.

Chairman APPAC Dr. Ijaz Ahmed introduced the delegation with the speaker Sindh assembly and informed him about the working of the organization and recent visit to Pakistan.

APPAC Trade Committee Chairman  Dr. Khalid Mehmood said that they wanted promotion of  education, health, trade and culture between the US and Pakistan at the state level as well. Athar Tirmizi told how Pakistanis Americans were serving the country not only in politics but also in the judiciary.

During the meeting, Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly Phil Ramos said that political relations used to fluctuate but cooperation between both countries should continue in various fields.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah said that unfortunately negative image of Pakistan is portrayed at the international level but we are proud of our overseas Pakistanis who were performing the duty of excellent diplomacy.

Speaker of the Sindh Assembly dressed the American legislators and APPAC delegation with traditional Sindhi cap and Ajrak. The visiting delegation also visited the old and new houses of the first legislative assembly of Pakistan.
