Punjab health ministry agrees to design new nursing program on recommendations of APPAC

LAHORE: Punjab ministry of health of Pakistan has agreed to create a new nursing program and increase the number of nurses on an annual basis on the recommendation of the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee.

A delegation led by New York State Assembly Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos presented a nursing program plan at a dinner organized by APPAC in Lahore.

It was agreed to create a new nursing program in light of a resolution with regard to declare New York and Punjab as sister states.

The nursing programs to be made jointly by New York health and hospital team chief, Allama Iqbal hospital Lahore and Aga Khan university hospital Karachi.

The representatives of the delegation said that there was  shortage of nurses in New York and this program will not only benefit New York hospitals and patients, but both countries. They said that new curriculum will also be prepared for the nursing program.

They said that ministry of health will decide which hospitals can join this program. Ministry of health officials said that around six thousand nurses were joining the health sector after completing their education and training on an annual basis and efforts will be made for increasing the seats in nursing training institutions.
