APNA community centre’s delegation visits NYC emergency management department

Delegation briefed about various activities in emergency situations for those persons who speak and understand Urdu language

NEWYORK: The New York city emergency management department has advised citizens to prepare a bag containing the most essential items to move from their home to a safe place in case of natural disasters and any type of emergency.

New York city emergency management department invited the social organization APNA Community Center to its headquarters and inform about their various activities in emergency situations for those persons who speak and understand Urdu language.

Emergency management department’s commissioner Zachary Iscol and his representative got the delegation of APNA community center visited to various departments including command and control room and operation center.

APNA CEO Erum Hanif briefed the journalists about the visit and said that commissioner of emergency management wanted to create convenience for the Pakistani and Urdu community. She said that NYC website and mobile application were also available in Urdu from where all necessary information can be obtained.

During the meeting, the Commissioner of emergency management department Zachary Iscol said that there were large number of Urdu speaking community in the New York and we want to provide equal facilities to all the communities.

The participants were informed about the performance of emergency management department and its staff as how they perform their professional responsibilities and duties in the event of heavy rains, floods, snowstorms, heatwaves and other natural disasters or any type of emergency, including the Covid-19 epidemic.
