Cultural Expo in New Jersey showcases rich Islamic civilization, culture

Artwork based on Islamic calligraphy, items reflecting the lifestyle, oriental dresses, jewelery and stalls of unique dishes were set up in the exhibition

New Jersey: In the wake of the adaptation of the ‘Muslim Cultural Heritage Bill’ in the state of New Jersey, a grand cultural expo was held under the auspices of the Cultural Society of Bergen County and the Eid Committee at a private hotel in New Jersey, which was started with the recitation of the holy word.

A large number of Muslim communities participated in this exhibition which was compatible with Islamic civilization and culture. The young students of the school presented Qaseedas, while singer Mehro Syed presented Hamd-e-Bari-e-Tala.

The children participated in the cultural expo specially dressed in traditional clothes of different Islamic countries, while the first Muslim Assemblywoman Shama Haider, elected from District 37 of New Jersey, also participated.

She said that this is the first and historic exhibition of its kind, through which other communities will get an opportunity to know and understand Muslims closely.

In addition to beautiful works of art based on Islamic calligraphy, various items reflecting the lifestyle, oriental dresses for women, decorative jewelry, and stalls of unique dishes were set up in the exhibition.

On this occasion, the organizer of the exhibition and cultural society of Bergen County, Farhat Khan, and others said that this is the first time that the day of Muslim culture is being celebrated, we have tried to make all communities aware of Islamic civilization and culture.

The Muslim Heritage Month Committee was established in May last year and was planned by representatives from more or less 40 towns.

Chairman of the Eid Committee, Tamkeen Khateeb said that Islamic civilization, culture and Traditions have their own history which can never be forgotten. Our aim is to promote mutual unity and agreement and connect the hearts of people.

A session was also held to inform the participants of the cultural expo about the inventions in the field of science and medicine in Islamic history. Dr. Ghazala Arshad shed light on Islamic civilization and culture and the golden age.

Various sessions were organized for the participants of all ages, in which children and adults faced informative questions related to Islamic history, as Panel of religious experts were also arranged.

Young writer Maria Manji read out some excerpts from her children’s book ‘The Magical Pen’.

On this occasion, 10-year-old Alia Mirza recited a poem written by the title “We Da People”.

The exhibition was facilitated by AA Films, where the participants posed for photos with traditional Islamic costumes, war weapons etc.

On this occasion, an exhibition ,and fundraising was held for the oppressed Muslims of Gaza in Palestine.

Renowned stand-up comedian Jeremy McLellan performed his art to entertain the participants on this occasion.
