Beijing: The Pakistan Embassy in Beijing hosted the ‘Pakistan China Exchange Conference on Investment Opportunities’ to apprise Chinese investors, businessmen, entrepreneurs and technology experts about the new and emerging investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially given the newly constituted Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) that seeks to incentivize foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country.

The conference was attended by over 100 participants representing 60 Chinese companies from across the engineering sector.
Pakistan ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi in his welcome address underlined the potential of forging cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of engineering, construction, carbon neutrality, energy storage, mining development and green development.

He noted the increase in bilateral B2B exchanges along with ongoing collaboration between the entrepreneurs of the two sides.

He underscored that under phase-II of CPEC, B2B cooperation as well as investment and transfer of technology from China to Pakistan is a priority, in line with the vision of the leaderships of both countries to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation. He also apprised the participants about establishment of SIFC, which offers “one window” facility to foreign investors and businessmen to invest in Pakistan.

Pak envoy also encouraged the participants to attend 3rd engineering and healthcare expo to be held in Lahore on January 18, 2024. Deputy secretary general China association of international engineering consultants Lu Chang commended the efforts of the Pakistan embassy in organizing the event.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s investment friendly policies and called for expanding cooperation in such priority fields as photovoltaic batteries, hydropower and information technology.

Other participants of the meeting, including representatives of leading Chinese engineering companies, also complimented the initiative of the embassy to bring together Chinese investors and entrepreneurs and hoped that conference would serve as a catalyst to boost the B2B exchanges, including the volume of Chinese investment in engineering and technology sectors of Pakistan.
