New Jersey: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senator and Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Captain (retd) Shaheen Khalid Butt has asked the Pakistani community to enhance their revenue sources, saying the ongoing inflation is a global phenomenon, which may continue to rise further in days to come.

He was addressing a reception given in his honor by the prominent business and social figures of the New Jersey community Mr. Babar Hashmi and Mr. Ijaz Butt.

Addressing the participants, Shaheen Butt said that my political affiliation is with the PML-N but every Pakistani living abroad is equal to me. His political affiliation does not matter.

The PMLN leaders embraced the guest on his arrival and gave him a warm welcome. The ceremony began with the recitation of the divine verses of the Holy Quran, followed by the Naat-e-Rasool Maqvool (peace be upon him).

The function was attended by the community’s social and business personalities as well as other senior party leaders such as Danish Malik, Raja Razzaq, Rana Saeed and others.

The participants of the event spoke openly about the current political and economic situation in Pakistan.

On the occasion, senior PMLN leader Raja Razzaq questioned that the commission is dysfunctional in taking the issues of overseas Pakistanis to court.

Replying to the question, Shaheen Khalid Butt said that special courts were being set up in Lahore and two other districts to hear the cases of overseas persons.

In response to another questions from the participants, Shaheen Butt also made it clear that inflation would continue to rise. He said the government was trying to reduce inflation but the people should increase their income sources.

Members of the community participating in the event expressed their concerns over the decision to withdraw the right to e-voting given to overseas Pakistanis, to which Shaheen Khalid Butt said that overseas Pakistanis should have the right to vote. The chances of irregularities and fraud in the process are very high.

At the end of the ceremony, Shaheen Khalid Butt thanked the host and other PML-N leaders.
