President of Pakistan Society of North Texas, Abid Malik organized a fundraising ceremony for a Candidate for the Congress from California Dr. Asif Mehmood, at his residence in Dallas, New York.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The host Abid Malik thanked the participants for coming and introduced the audience to Dr. Asif Mehmood.
PSNT President Abid Malik said that Dr. Asif Mehmood’s services to the Pakistani Community and Pakistan have been commendable. He has served the community without any discrimination and has played an effective role in upholding the dignity of the beloved homeland.
He further said that the time has come when Pakistani Community should be represented in the US House of Representatives, and Dr. Asif Mehmood is a strong candidate for Congress for our representation.
He belongs to the Democratic Party, and we have to cooperate fully to make him successful in this election.
The guest of honor, Dr. Asif Mehmood, said that he had worked tirelessly to make California and Punjab a sister state after which both exchanged cooperation in most areas. He said that instead of appreciation, he faced extreme opposition from the Pakistani embassy for his efforts against the Indian atrocities in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir but had not lost hope and finally managed to present the Kashmir case to US Congress.
He said we could effectively represent our issues before the government through elected representation.
He appealed to the Pakistani Community for their donations and support. He said that the full support of the Pakistani Community would help him for an effective campaign. 
The event was attended by Dallas’s business, political and social personalities who donated funds to Dr. Asif Mehmood for his election campaign.
