Unveiling of the “Hijabi Queens Mural” in Brooklyn

Web Desk:
Pakistani American Youth Society (PAYS) announce the unveiling of the Hijabi Queens Mural in Brooklyn on 8th May 2022.

PAYS organizer and public advocate, Kashif Hussain, the owner of the Hijabi Queens Mural Farzeen Hussain Wasti & Asad Wasti, Mural Artist Natasha May Platt, and the founders of Hijabi Queens NFT Collection Karter Zaher & Doaa Alhawamdeh will be unveiling the Hijabi Queens Mural.

The Hijabi Queens Mural is approximately 50 feet wide and stands 30 feet tall at the intersection of Coney Island Avenue, in an area known as “Little Pakistan” in the borough of Brooklyn, NYC. For decades women in hijab have been misrepresented and often fell victim to hate crimes.

This majestic mural is an important milestone to empower women, especially those who practice head covering so that they feel more confident and powerful. This mural is dedicated to all young women who are part of an extremely diverse city and display their identity through means of clothing, language, faith, and heritage.

Elected officials and community leaders are also invited to speak and will be available for interviews.
