New Mayor says pay me in Bitcoin

NYC is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry, Eric Adams.

Web Desk:

New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams said he would take his first three paychecks in Bitcoin when he takes over City Hall at the end of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s term in January.

Mr. Adams said on Twitter that he wanted to signal his intention to make New York the “center of the cryptocurrency industry”.

“NYC is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries! Just wait!”

The value of bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, has been highly volatile since it was created in 2009.

Adams tweeted his intention to take paychecks in bitcoin, in response to Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s pledge that he would take his paycheck in bitcoin after he was re-elected.

“In New York, we always go big, so I’m going to take my first three paychecks in bitcoin when I become mayor,” Eric Adams wrote in a Twitter post.
