Brooklyn firefighter face slashed by ex-fiancee’s new beau, police say

Love triangle got heated. An off-duty FDNY member was slashed on the face Saturday by his ex-fiancee’s new lover, sources and police said.

The brutal slashing happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning outside of the 36-year-old man’s home near 71st Street and Third Avenue in Brooklyn, police said.

The fireman was walking home when his attacker came up from behind, grabbed him and slashed him across the face with a sharp object, cops said.

The smoke eater’s neighbor saw the trail of blood and found the man bleeding heavily outside of his home, police said.

When officers asked the injured man who slashed him, he claimed it was his ex’s new boyfriend, Bobby sources said.

That afternoon, at around 4 p.m., cops collared Benedetto Bonello, 32, and charged him with two counts of assault and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Bonello is due in court Friday, according to public records.
