UEFA Champions League Draw for RO-16

UEFA Champions League draws on Monday has decided the fate of the teams qualified for the Round of 16 of the prestigious tournament in club football.

UCL draws were carried out with the traditional hand picking procedure matching the teams together that finished first in their group with those that finished second. The procedure often criticized, has however left us with a number of spicy fixtures to look forward to in February.

Current holders Liverpool will see themselves return to the football festival after being drawn against Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the competition.

The reds are set to travel to Spain for the first leg of their tie against Atletico.

Manchester City who are still on the hunt for their first Champions League crown, will have to go neck in neck with the record 13 times winner Real Madrid. City, with their eyes set on the prize will surely have to put in all the strength in the bag to pull this one off.

English club Chelsea will face German giants Bayern Munich and it’s prolific attacking force with the leading goal scorer Lewandowski on the face of it.

Paris Saint-Germain will face a considerably less threatening tie being drawn with a struggling Borussia Dortmund.

The Catalan giants Barcelona will play a fresh Napoli side with a new gaffer in charge. However as big of a club Barcelona is, the knockout stage does prove to be an Achilles heel for the 5 times winner.

Italian champions Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo will go against the French club Lyon, who have been suffering with unfortunate wave of injuries.

Runners Up from last year Tottenham Hotspur will go against the young German side Leipzig whereas Valencia will face Italian side Atalanta on their quest to the next round.

The first legs will be played over February 18-19 and February 25-26 with the return fixtures scheduled for 10th 11th, 17th and 18th of March.
